Republicans Set to Limit Women's Rights

Our country has long fought for the rights of others and made progress of insuring those rights of all people but now we have the Republicans trying their darnest to to back peddle some of those rights that limit the rights of women.

This is a party who insists they want smaller government, lower taxes for the wealthy, to eliminate or greatly reduce “entitlements” (other than their own) and now are doing their best to bring up Roe vs Wade in an effort to reverse the decision on the legality of abortion along with banning birth control pills. Are we really on our way back to the 1960’s?

In the past year Alabama, Louisiana, North Dakota, Ohio, Mississippi and Oklahoma were states that tried to get abortion banned but didn’t succeed. Other states passed previsions that restricted access to abortion. There are some who are trying ban birth control pills and advocate a ‘just say no’ to preventing pregnancies. Well, most of us know how well that works... lust is a bit hard to control at times.

Why are we allowing Republicans to control our bodies? Are they so utterly stupid to ignore the fact that legal abortions have helped bring safety in maintaining and protecting women in a difficult situation. And in helping what for many women is a serious and difficult choice?

Before Roe vs Wade abortions were done privately and unspoken of by doctors throughout the country...if you had the funds, you got a quiet abortion. If you were poor you wound up who knew where and not knowing anything about the person who performed the abortion...back alley, kitchen table... no names and if it didn’t work and there were complications you either managed to get through it or outright died.

Republican Want the Power to Control

How dare these people make decisions that concern the well being of others. How in the world do these Republican males know about being raped and finding yourself pregnant? Are they so ignorant they don’t understand there are medical conditions that would endanger a woman’s life with another pregnancy and that in the event of their death would leave their other children without a mother? Is the fetus malformed and will it have little chance to live after birth or be seriously brain or physically damaged after birth?

Having an abortion is a very serious decision and the majority of women faced with that decision don’t take it lightly. It is taking a life and living with that decision forever. In their quest to control our lives they want to control any programs that would help with the raising of a child if financial help was needed regardless of the legitimacy of the request for financial aid. Women are punished if they seek an abortion or if they give birth to a child they can’t afford to raise. It’s lose, lose not matter what.

Religion Shouldn’t Be a Part of Government

Do the Republican politicians have the right to bring in religion as a basis to decide this issue or do we? Religion shouldn’t enter in to it. It’s a personal decision between the person and their god and and religion. The conservative right majority flaunt moral and family values but if you don’t fit in with their particular church or beliefs your morals and family values aren’t accepted. And many of those high and mighty conservative religious politicians have been caught in scandalous situations but it seems as long as they pray they will be absolved of their transgressions. And we’re suppose to ignore or forget their hypocrisy? Of course Democrats get caught in scandals but they don’t cram right or wrong down your throat.

What a pathetic state our nation is in. Power, greed and control for the 1% and to hell with the rest of us. Be prepared... major battles on many fields are about to take place in this year of 2012.
